Martin County Homemaker’s party with Maria L.D.Kirk

On December 7-8, 2019 Martin County held it’s Annual Christmas in the Mountains Christmas Festival. All business and the community came together making this an amazing and wonderful event.

There was non-stop activities happening all weekend. There was a Joy to the Word youth rally for the kids on Friday, where local youth performed their favorite Christmas melodies and skits, with fun food and worshiping!

Making ornaments and eating at the Extension Office

There was a Power Wheels event where kids got to ride their power wheels down the road from The Board of Education all the way to the Gazebo.

The Martin County Homemaker’s held a fun filled evening on Saturday with activities which included making Christmas ornaments. They sold hot dog dinners, all kinds of homemade goodies to eat. There were many events such as free children’s train rides and inflatables, Chilli cook offs and a parade on Saturday at 6 through downtown Inez.

Quilts were displayed at Miss Ida’s

Miss Ida’s Hometown Eatery displayed local talent from the middle school Beta Club and “Our Quilters”. Anyone interested in purchasing one of the homemade quilts contact Pam Ward on FB. For the artwork contact Maryanne Farley on FB.

The Martin County Library hosted an event called Elf on the Shelf in which Mrs. Debbie read the book to the children and with some library magic made a real Elf named Kelsey appear. Their Christmas party followed.

There was also a Gingerbread making contest with Sofia Harless winning the student category and Traci Horn winning the family category.
