PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WOWK) — Lawrence County and Paintsville, Kentucky native, Tyler Childers, was nominated for his first Grammy Award on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Tyler Childers was nominated for the “Best Country Solo Performance category” with his song “All Your’n.”
Childers’ “All Your’n” is up against Ashley McBryde’s “Girl Goin’ Nowhere”, Willie Nelson’s “Ride Me Back Home”, Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country” and Tanya Tucker’s “Bring My Flowers Now”.
Childers made a post on his Facebook Page that concluded, “Not bad for a Creeker from Hickman Holler. Thanks to everyone for the support.”

Kentucky singer-songwriter Tyler Childers gets his first Grammy nomination

Eastern Kentucky troubadour Tyler Childers is a Grammy Award nominee for the first time, the Recording Academy announced Wednesday.
The singer from Lawrence County is nominated for “Best Country Solo Performance” for his song “All Your’n,” featured on his third studio album, “Country Squire,” which put him for the first time at the top spot in the Billboard Top Country Albums chart after its August release.
“All Your’n” tells a love story in a relaxed tempo with the chorus: “I’ll love you ’til my lungs give out/I ain’t lyin’/I’m all your’n, and you’re all mine.” Rolling Stone called the song “one of the most laid-back entries in the Kentucky native’s catalog.”
Other songs nominated for the award include Ashley McBryde’s “Girl Goin’ Nowhere,” Willie Nelson’s “Ride Me Back Home,” Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country” and Tanya Tucker’s “Bring My Flowers Now.”
Childers sold out three nights in a row of shows last year at Louisville Palace and three nights at Headliners Music Hall. He announced in October plans to visit his home state again as part of his nationwide 2020 tour with stops in Lexington and Louisville during Sturgill Simpson’s “A Good Look’n Tour.”
Since the release of his second album, “Purgatory,” in 2017, Childers has performed at Bonnaroo, the Grand Ole Opry, Lollapalooza, Merlefest, Newport Folk Festival, Forecastle, Lexington’s inaugural Railbird music festival and other stages across the country.
He’s on a “Country Squire Run” headline tour around the country and plans to travel to Europe before coming back to the United States in 2020.
“Country Squire” has sold 44,300 copies in the United States, and Childers described it on his website as a “working man’s country album.”
“I hope that I’m doing my people justice, and I hope that maybe someone from somewhere else can get a glimpse of the life of a Kentucky boy,” Childers said.
