Ashton, W. Va. — #6 Tolsia ( 7-3 ) closed out the regular season with a 42-6 road victory over Hannan ( 1-9 ) Friday night.

Junior Gavin Meadows had a breakout game Friday night against Hannan with two touchdowns. Meadows has had tough year battling injuries and the death of his close friend Colt Adams this past May

The Rebels scored early and often and raced out to a 36-6 lead at halftime as the starters only played a quarter and a half and then the first drive of the third quarter before the junior varsity played the rest.

John Wilson got Tolsia on the board with a nice 50 yard touchdown but the PAT was blocked and the Rebels led 6-0.

Gavin Meadows scored from 10 yards out and Jesse Muncy tacked on the two point conversion with 2:24 and Tolsia led 14-0.

Meadows scored his second touchdown of the game this time from 58 yards out and Muncy hit Tanner Copley for the two point play and the Rebels led 22-0.

With 7:38 left in the first half Muncy found a streaking Zack Ball for 38 yard touchdown and Muncy added the two point conversion for a 30-0 lead.

After Grayson Sweeney recovered a fumble Muncy cashed in the turnover with a 2 yard touchdown and the Rebels led 36-0 with 4:03 before halftime.

Hannan got on the board when Brady Adkins caught a 55 yard touchdown pass to set the halftime score at 36-6

On the first drive of the second half Muncy found pay dirt from 11 yards out to set the final score at 42-6.

Assistant Coach Wade Cyrus talks to his offense in an early season game at Fairland. Cyrus hope the last couple games will get his offense ready for a playoff run.

Looks like the Rebels will go into the WVSSAC 16 team State playoffs as the #7 seed in Class A and will play #10 Wheeling Central Catholic ( 6-4 ) who some say is the favorite to win the State Championship. Final rankings and complete schedule will be out Sunday.

Tolsia Head Coach Eric Crum

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Thought we played well, came on the road and took care of business to guarantee us a Home game in the playoffs next week. It was good to play a bunch of kids who have worked hard all year and deserved to get some game action.”

“… We are happy to be back in the playoffs after missing it the last couple years. When this group was freshmen we started the process to rebuild and it has paid off for them with a 7-3 finish and a home playoff game. It hasn’t been easy by no means but this kids deserve everything they get. They have earned it.”

“… Not sure who we will play but it looks like Wheeling Central. They have a storied program and even though they will be the 10 seed, it will be a challenge. Hopefully we will have a great crowd next weekend to cheer these kids on.”
