CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — Get ready for an early dose of winter! A wind advisory and a freeze warning have been issued for much of the Tri-State area as a cold front moves into the area Thursday evening into Friday.

The National Weather Service issued the freeze warning for 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday because temperatures as low as 31 degrees are expected.

The areas under the warning are Kanawha, Putnam, Cabell, Mason, Wayne, Jackson, Lincoln, Roane, Mingo, Logan, Boone, McDowell and Wyoming counties in West Virginia. In Kentucky, Lawrence, Greenup, Carter, Boyd and Jackson counties are affected. In Ohio, Meigs, Vinton, Gallia and Lawrence counties are in the warning.

Freezing temperatures will kill crops or vegetation if left outside and unprotected. Outdoor water pipes should also be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly, the weather service advises.

Rain and wind with gusts between 40 and 50 mph are expected Thursday and strong to severe thunderstorms.

A wind advisory is in effect beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday though 2 a.m. Friday. This could cause power outages and tree limbs could be blown down, the weather service warns.

The areas affected by the wind advisory include Wood, Pleasants, Tyler, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie, Doddridge, Clay, Braxton, Gilmer, Lewis, Harrison, Taylor, Upshur and Barbour counties.

The Eyewitness News Storm Team said to expect storms to move into the area Thursday between 11 a.m. and noon in the Huntington area and from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Charleston area. One-half inch to 1 inch of rain is expected Thursday.

This must prove liberals are right about this climate change stuff? I’ve noticed every year around this time or even earlier I see frost on the ground, or snow or some other odd thing? Are cow farts to blame here? I noticed some black angus cattle about a half mile below my house just before this cold weather started? This is very strange, very strange indeed!
