LCHS Cross Country Coach Wade Skaggs

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… For our Girls Middle and High School team Maggie Johnson currently sits at the top for HS Girls time in our region as an 8th grader. Maggie is a special runner and is one of the most competitive athletes I’ve ever coached. Camber Maxie-Stepp, also an 8th grader, has came in 2nd place in multiple high school meets and continues to improve every meet. Our other two 8th graders Danielle Crum and Jaylee Maxie continue to personal best their times each meet and have both finished top 5 in some high school meets this season. I expect big things down the road from these 4 girls.”

“… Our Boys Middle School team have been very competitive at middle and high school meets. Aiden Mynheir, Marty Marcum, Gunnar Woods, Wyatt Branham, Evan Perry, Andrew Vinson, and Gavin Wells have done a phenomenal job this year. They all have finished top ten or better in several meets. I expect big things from all these runners in the future. I have to thank Coach Brady for letting some of our soccer boys run for me. She does a great job with her program and I thank her for being flexible with my meets and practices too.”

“… Our Boys High School team has continued to progress each week. This is the first week we have had a boy runner take 1st place at Paintsville with Will Dillow. He ran his best time of the year yesterday. Our Boys team should be very competitive in 2A Region 7 this year. We hope to improve on our 3rd place team finish from last year with Alex Ratliff, Tristan Robertson, Will Dillow, Mason Clark, Briyce Brooks, Blaine Snavely, Tyler Maynard, Luke Johnson, and SJ Lycans leading us. We have a lot of soccer guys running for us. Coach Johnson does a great job with conditioning those guys and having them ready for Cross Country meets. I’m also thankful for Coach Johnson for being flexible with me.”

“… Also, we have started an elementary team. Our team continues to grow each week and it is not too late to join. We have a total of 9 runners right now and I hope to see more kids join. We have practices every Monday thru Thursday 4pm at the LC track. If you decide to come please bring a physical with you.”
