WILSON SAYS HE STOLE MORE THAN $10,000

LOUISA, Ky. — A manager of the Louisa Best Western motel was arrested Friday Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt said and charged with multiple offenses in the connection to what owner Gene Wilson says is “at least $10,000 missing” from the motel’s accounts. Details of the arrest were not available this morning.

Chapman was arrest by LPD officer J. Musick and charged with

  • Theft by Unlawful taking (TBUT) $10,000 or more but not $1 million
  • Poss. Of a controlled substance 1st off (Heroin)
  • Importing heroin
Anthony “Tony” Chapman

Wilson said Thursday that he had sworn out the warrant against Anthony “Tony” Chapman when he discovered the missing money through an in house audit.

“The police are investigating the case,” Lawrence County Attorney Mike Hogan said.  “He was arrested based upon the sworn allegation of what happened.  We have dealt with Mr. Chapman in the past and he has a prior record of criminal activity and furthermore has been charged and convicted of thefts on prior occasions.”

Hogan said Chapman was recently arrested for stealing from his own family members. These prior thefts were to support his drug use which we tried to help him with,” Hogan said.

Hogan and Wilson say Chapman as manager was taking cash payments at the hotel and pocketing the money and not recording the rooms as rented.

“Picture you going to a hotel and being told it’s $100 with a credit card or $85 in cash,” Hogan said.

Same way Dustin Slone was a previous manager at Best Western and had been busted multiple times for Meth and stealing they don’t do background checks. (Edited)

I bet they wish they had treated their former workers better then they did instead of Pauletta calling for heads to roll over the slightest honest mixup.

I guess background checks were an option! I forgot, it costs money to do those!
