MUSIC IN THE PARK EVENT IS A BIG HIT

Laid Back Country Picker and Luna and the Mountain Jets performed on the stage at City park in Louisa for the kickoff event of a scheduled “MUSIC IN THE PARK’ series on Thursday nights this summer. The events are sponsored by the Lawrence Co. Tourism Committee and the City of Louisa

Lawrence County Tourism Director Wes Kingsmore hopes that everyone will be making their way to Main Street Park every THIRD THURSDAY of the month considering how well the kickoff for the Music in the Park event went this past Thursday.

“We had so many other events going on in town especially with school in session and we still had an excellent crowd to come in and listen to our own Laid Back Country Picker and Luna and the Mountain Jets” stated Kingsmore. He said he hopes that it will continue to grow each month.

The Louisa/Lawrence County Trail Town Committee sponsored a table decorating contest for the event. The LC Sheriffs office won first place for their Hawaiian themed table “Say Aloha to Bullying” table which was part of the Sheriffs new outreach initiative.

On Thursday evening, May 16th, we participated in the Music in the Park event hosted by the Louisa/Lawrence County Trail Town Committee. We won the best decorated table with “Say Aloha to Bullying” and introduced our Community Impact Program including our new trailer that will be used for this newly developed program. The impact program was designed to bring community partners together to get prevention services and program resources out to the communities. Topics and presentations will include drug and substance abuse, anti-bullying, mental health, emotional well-being, and family core values. The program is completely funded by the community partners and sponsors. The impact program will provide an opportunity for the youth and the community to interact with these community partners in a relaxed one-on-one setting. The program has many sponsors and community partners not all listed or pictured below. For more information about the program contact the Sheriff’s Office at 606-638-4368. Thank you to all the community partners and sponsors that have come together to make this happen.”   –Sheriff Chuck Jackson

The event is sponsored by LC Tourism and the City of Louisa as a way of promoting our local downtown area and local talent. The plan is to give families a place to come for free, listen to good music and bring their friends and neighbors to enjoy our local community.

The next THIRD THURSDAY event is scheduled for June 20, 2019. If you are interested in setting up a booth, please contact the Tourism Committee on their Facebook page @ Lawrence County Tourism Commission –Kentucky.

First off Thank You to Tourism Committee and City of Louisa for putting on events for the citizens!!

Next would be nice to get some clarification on the sheriff statement. From what was written the WHOLE program is funded by the sponsors and community partners. So are they paying for the use of the county vehicles, fuel etc and the salaries for the deputies when they are doing the program. Think probably not so that is one of those FALSE statements to mislead people. Don’t take it wrong there are good things being done but a lot of things going on that had been promoted as bad to make others look bad. Amazing how a little bit of power will change people. Think people are starting to figure out how people really are!!!!

Again Thank You to those who are doing things for the right reasons.
