The Rebels fell behind early and couldn’t complete the comeback in the 1st ever Brent Weaver Memorial Tournament at Cardinal Park in Inez.

#23 Eric Williams is greeted by fellow senior #8 Billy Perry and #15 Carson Stuart after hitting a two run homer in the Brent Weaver Memorial Saturday at Cardinal Park.

Eric Williams hit his third homer of the year and also doubled to pace the Rebel offense. Williams finished with 3 RBIs and scored twice. He has reached base in 8 straight plate appearances. Nick Blackburn had 2 hits, Billy Perry doubled and scored two runs, Carson Stuart had 2 RBIs, Chris Perry 1 RBI, Austin Bailey and Ross Lycan scored a run each.

Tolsia will begin postseason play in the Region 4 Section 2 tournament Tonight against Rival Tug Valley at Lefty Hamilton Park in Williamson first pitch will be 6:00.

Tolsia Head Coach Jeff Wallace

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… These seniors have been through a lot and most likely be the winningest class to come through Tolsia. Eric Williams and Austin Bailey were thrown to the fire against Double A Teams as freshman and it only made them better. Glad we could get the win on Senior Night even though Mother Nature made it hard on us.”

“… We didn’t quit against Morgan Co. we fought back and made a game of it. A couple of weeks ago if we fell behind I think they would have quit, but they didn’t today and I’m proud of them for that. A few guys changed their approach after their first at bat and were successful.”

“… Postseason starts Monday against Tug Valley we only played them once and lost by 1 run late in the game. I believe both teams have gotten better so it should be interesting. We haven’t beaten them at Lefty Hamilton Park since I have been here.”
