LAKE CUMBERLAND, KY. —  Lawrence Co. Senior fisherman Eric Price and Noah West took third place over the weekend out of 240 boats with the pair finished with 16 pounds and 8 ounces worth of fish. The tournament was a T.B.F. national qualifier. Which means the 2015 KHSAA State Bass fishing Champions move on to the national championship at Pickwick Lake in Alabama June 18th thru June 22nd.

Eric, Noah and the best boat captain around -John Pannell weighed in 5 fish at 16.8 ounces which was 3rd place out of 237 boats at Lake Cumberland. They qualified for Nationals in June.

The winners had 16 pounds and 15 ounces. Second place had 16 pounds 9 ounces.

Also competing in the tournament from LCHS was Luke Cassell and Briyce Brooks along with boat captain Chris Wilson and the other teams was Jake Lycans and William Copley along with boat captain Glenn Rowe.

BOAT CAPTAIN’S COMMENTS

“… We didn’t really have a good practice. Just couldn’t find the quality of fish that we knew we would need. So when tournament day came we went to the only place we caught any fish which was on the other end of the lake. We never took a bite until 10:30. Then we caught a keeper largemouth and seen what the fish were relating to. After that it got kinda easy. We had our limit of 5 fish in the boat by 12:30. I just can’t say enough about these Godly young men. It’s a pleasure to be their boat captain. Eric and Noah are machines!”

“… Our next tournament is at Paintsville lake on April 6th. After that the KHSAA state qualifier is at Cave Run lake on April  27th.”
