Governor Bevin Calls Special Election for March 5th, 2019 for 31st Senate District

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 8, 2019)  –  Yesterday, Governor Bevin issued a writ of election for the 31st Senate District Seat, vacated by Sen. Ray Jones upon his election as Pike County Judge Executive. 

The 31st district includes Elliot, Martin, Lawrence, Morgan, and Pike Counties.

The filing deadline for Republican and Democratic candidates nominated by their parties and Independent and political group/organization candidates must be filed with the Secretary of State’s office no later than Tuesday, Jan. 15th, 2019 at 4:00pm.  Write-in candidates must file a declaration of intent with the Secretary of State’s office no later than Tuesday, Feb. 5th, 2019 at 4:00pm.
