Joy Lucille Graham, 99, of Blaine, KY passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Three Rivers Medical Center.

Mrs. Graham was born October 7, 1919 at Adams, KY to the late Arthur and Phinea Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Graham, son John Marcus Graham, son-in-law Carl Dudley Billups II, and a sister who died in infancy.

She is survived by daughters Janet Billups of Union, KY and Ruth and Freddie West of Louisa; son Michael Graham of Blaine; grandchildren Trish and Jeff Brunk, Carl Dudley Billups III, Monica and Tim Callahan, Carla Erwin, Janey and Randy Wallin, Mark and Dondra West, Dwayne and Lisa West, Chelsea West, Mark Hay, David Hay, Brian Hay, Jason and Robin Graham, Kelli and Ben Adkins, and Rick and Jessi Graham; seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Mrs. Graham was a member of the Blaine Christian Church and a retired Lawrence County school teacher, having taught over 40 years. She started teaching all grades in one room schools at Buchanan, Rock House, Watterson and Elm Grove. She moved on to Blaine High School and then to Louisa Elementary teaching second grade. She spent her last years in education as the county’s home-bound teacher. She reluctantly retired at age 69, when she moved from her farm on Irish Creek and relocated to the Morris home place on Big Branch where she enjoyed gardening.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of Three Rivers Medical Center and Louisa Medical Clinic, who took such good care of her over the many trip to the hospital and to the home health nurses who made weekly visits to check on her.

Last, but  not least, our heartfelt appreciation goes to her long time caregiver and friend Lucille Robertson, her son Randy, and their extended family for the care they bestowed upon Mrs. Graham throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s. On behalf of “Maw”, we thank you from the bottom of our heart.

Funeral services for Mrs. Graham will be conducted Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Roger Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family on Monday, December 17, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Young Funeral Home.

Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Graham.

She was my teacher at Watterson and her father Arthur Morris was also a minister who officiated at the funeral of my father, Montaville Adams on Blaine Creek in 1942….She was a wonderful teacher.
