FLOYD COUNTY HUSBAND & WIFE ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES IN MAGOFFIN COUNTY; ONE HOUR AFTER THEIR SON WAS ARRESTED IN JOHNSON COUNTY ON SEPARATE, UNRELATED CHARGES

DECEMBER 8, 2018 – written by WADE QUEEN
The Salyersville Police Department in Magoffin County arrested a Floyd County married couple early A.M. Wednesday morning December 5, on drug charges, while in a somewhat goofy twist, just one hour prior to them both getting busted, their adult son was arrested in Johnson County on completely different charges.

According to a report in the Salyersville Independent newspaper, William J. Skeens, 54 and his wife Kimberly M. Skeens, 49, both of Auxier, which is in Floyd County, were passengers in a vehicle that had been pulled over in the very late evening on Tuesday, December 4. Patrol officer Mike Nickels, who made the traffic stop in Salyersville, said he could smell marijuana inside the car.

Upon further investigation, officer Nickels found marijuana and a pack of rolling papers in William Skeens’ sock, and Kimberly Skeens reportedly had Neurontin, Hydrocodone and Suboxone in a makeup compact inside her purse.

William Skeens was arrested and charged with:

• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE, (OPIATES),

• PRESCRIPTION CONTAINER SUBSTANCE NOT PROPER CONTAINER 1ST OFFENSE,

• POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA,

• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS.

Kimberly Skeens was arrested and charged with:

• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE, (OPIATES),

• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE,

• PRESCRIPTION CONTAINER SUBSTANCE NOT PROPER CONTAINER 1ST OFFENSE,

Both of the Skeens were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville at just shortly after 1 A.M.

Unbeknownst to William and Kimberly Skeens, it would turn out that the couple’s son, Christopher Skeens, 36, of Oil Springs, in Johnson County, had been arrested about an hour earlier by the Kentucky State Police in a separate case and was lodged at the jail also.

CHRISTOPHER SKEENS

Christopher Skeens was served with a parole violation warrant by trooper Michael Zachary Haney, and was also charged with:

• ASSAULT, 4TH DEGREE (NO VISIBLE INJURY),

• MENACING,

• RESISTING ARREST. Skeens was brought to the BSRDC at just a minute after midnight.

William and Kimberly Skeens have since been released on bail bond from the BSRDC pending future court dates, but Christopher Skeens remains incarcerated at the jail as of late Saturday night.
