Addiction Recovery Care Opens New Crisis Unit and Women’s Center in Owingsville KY

Addiction Recovery Care (ARC), a healthcare corporation based in Louisa, KY opened a new facility on October 8th of this year in Owingsville, KY.

Congressman Andy Barr was in attendance today, November 1st, for the ribbon cutting ceremony, marking the successful opening. Hazel Hills will provide women that suffer from a substance use disorder with a medical detox as well as housing women who are in Addiction Recovery Care’s later phases of treatment, Transitional Learning Centers. This facility will also have the capability of caring for pregnant women who suffer from a substance use disorder. Hazel Hills can house 12 women in the Crisis Center and 36 in the Transitional Learning Center.

Addiction Recovery Care prides itself in offering true holistic treatment by providing residential programs, outpatient services, medically assisted treatment, and job training. All of these programs consist of clinical counseling, pastoral care, case management, peer support services, and vocational training. Megan Coldiron, Director of Outreach Services for ARC, expressed her excitement saying, “Hazel Hills’ crisis center is one more way we can serve our clients, offering them a full continuum of care. We treat the entire person.” No matter what a client is withdrawing from they can receive safe medical detox at Hazel Hills. This improves the safety and comfort of the individuals and allows a client the opportunity to remain with ARC for the entire duration of their treatment.

The ability to provide maternity care at Hazel Hills is an extension of the original program in Louisa, KY, Karen’s Place Maternity Center (KPMC). KPMC has experienced overwhelming success at providing women a way to stabilize, receive treatment, and have a healthy pregnancy. Women can enter into the center as soon as they know they are pregnant and stay for up to three months post-partum. The center not only focuses on prenatal care but also addresses treatment for the mother’s substance abuse disorder, provides parenting classes and vocational training. National statistics show on average drug-affected baby stays 20+ days in the NICU. Infants who have been born at KPMC come home with their mother in five days or less on average. This radical success drove ARC to extend this service to give more mothers the opportunity for a healthy pregnancy.

ARC’s medical director, Dr. Fletcher, oversees all services provided at Hazel Hills. The center is fully staffed with licensed clinicians, targeted case managers, certified peer support specialists, and registered nurses. Hazel Hills is now accepting patients.
