PRESTON SENTENCES COLLINS TO 10 YEARS

LOUISA, KY. — Judge JOHN D. Preston is apparently hearing the concerns of the citizens of Lawrence County concerning  tougher sentencing. Only a few people were sentenced on Friday, Sept. 14th in Lawrence County Circuit Court but one man received 10 years in prison. to serve!

Sentenced:

 

KELLY COLLINS

Kelly Collins, 40 was sentenced to 10 years to serve on Trafficking In a Controlled Substance.

 

 

 

 

 

Willis G. Horn

Willis Horn, 28 pled guilty on 2 cases:

  • Enhancement Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st degree, 2 GMS of Methamphetamine and
  • OP A MV under the Influence of Alc/drugs.
  • Defendant will be final sentenced on 10/16/18 to 20 years, probated over 5 years with 90 days of In home incarceration.
  • On Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 10 years, probated 5 and 7 days for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. concurrent to other case.

 

 

Joseph McCoy

Joseph McCoy, 21 was sentenced to an amended charge of Complicity Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and received

  • 12 months Probation, supervised 24 months and other conditions.

 

 

 

 

Jocelyn N. Pickard

Jocelyn Pickard, 33 was sentenced to 5 years for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, methamphetamine and on Trafficking a Controlled Substance, heroin the

  • defendant was sentenced to 5 years Supervised 5 years with a pretrial diversion and other conditions.

 

 

 

Hansel Wiley

Hansel WIley, 48 pled guilty to an amended charge of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and received 12 months, supervised over 24 months and other condition. The defendant was released.

 

 

Other hearings:

Richard Bowens, 28 arraigned on Burglary, 3rd degree and Persistent Felony Offender. Bond to be a long term rehab and pretrial set for 10/12/18

Clarence Childers, 47 was present for a pretrial conference on Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st degree, Wanton Endangerment, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of alc/drugs, Driving on Suspended license and Failure of non owner operator to maintain Required Insurance.

No sentencing or plea mentioned in court report.

Todd Coverdale, 51 was present on charges of Assault, 2nd degree and Menacing.

Case reset for 10/16/18

Robert Cyrus, 33 was arraigned on Complicity Possession of a Controlled Substance, methamphetamine, Complicity Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Operating a MV Under the Influence of Alc/drugs.

Pretrial set for 10/16/18.

Bobby Dale, 30 was present for a pretrial hearing on Flagrant Non Support and Persistent Felony Offender.

Reset of 9/28/18.

Freda Davis, 37 Had a Probation Revocation Hearing set for 9/28/18.

Todd Fitzpatrick, 23 was present for a Probation Violation Hearing,

Defendant recieved a graduated sanction.

James Gartin, 55 was present on charges of Rape 1st degree, 2 counts of Sodomy, 1st degree, both on a victim 12 years or younger.

The trial was continued due to doing a Competency Hearing. Set for status hearing on 10/16/18.

Jason Hale, 38 was on the docket to be arraigned on Complicity Trafficking In a Controlled Substance, 1st degree, Complicity Trafficking In a Controlled Substance, 3rd degree.

The defendant was not present and a bench warrant was issued.

Donnie Harris, 37, Burglary, 2nd degree, 2nd case Importing Heroin, 1st Degree Possession of CS/Cocaine (2 counts)

Sarah Hylton, 43 Complicity Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st degree, Complicity Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 2nd degree and Complicity Trafficking within 1000 ft. of a school.

James Moore, 67 Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration, 2nd or greater offense.

Jessica Ray, 37 Complicity Trafficking in a Controlled Substance an Persistent Felony Offender

William Cantrell, 34, Complicity Receiving Stolen Property (2 counts) 2nd case:Convicted Felon In Possession of a Handgun, Possession of Controlled Substance, methamphetamine, Tampering With Physical Evidence, Persistent Felony Offender.

Carlos Hayes, 50 a warrant was set aside and is set for pretrial on Receiving Stolen Property and Persistent Felony Offender on 10/16/18.

James Isaac, 56 was arraigned on Op. a MV under the influence of Alc/drugs, 4th or greater offense. Operating on a Revoked or Suspended Licence, Operating ATV On Roadway and Possession of and Open Alcohol Container.

Pretrial set for 10/16/18.

Shannon Jude, 42 was arraigned on Complicity Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st offense, (greater than 2 grams) Complicity Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, Persistent Felony Offender.

Pretrial set for 10/16/18.

Randy Tap Justice, 39 was arraigned on Engaging In Organized Crime, Criminal Syndicate.

Pretial set for 10/19/18.

William Litton, 48 reported for a pretrial conference and is

Set for trial on the charge of Rape, 1st degree. (no date given)

Robert Moore, 50 was on the docket to Void Pretrial Diversion.

The defendant was not present and a bench warrant was issued.

Christopher Ratliff, 37 was arraigned on Complicity Trafficking a Controlled Substance and

Pretrial set for 10/16/18.

Frank Spears, 34 was arraigned on Complicity Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, (2 grams) methamphetamine.

Pretrial set for 10/16/18.

Gregory Witham, 34was not present and bench warrant was issued for 3 cases. Charges on first case Possession of Controlled Substance, methamphetamine, Tampering with Physical Evidence and resisting arrest. 2nd case:2 Counts of Receiving Stolen Property/Complicity, 3rd case: Possession of Controlled Substance, methamphetamine.

Melvin Harmon Jr., 28 was scheduled for a pretrial conference on 2 cases with charges of Complicity Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument.

The defendant was not present and a bench warrant was issued.

    It’s a little bit to late judge Preston. The drug users have stolen from the working man for way to long. If they get caught you smack them on the hand and let them out to do it again. The voters are fed up with you and them.
