FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 7, 2018) – Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed James Derrick Stepp, of Tomahawk, as Magistrate for the Third District of Martin County. Stepp’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Darrell Mills.
Stepp is the founder and owner of S&S Enterprises, a small business in operation for more than 15 years. He is an active member of his community, serving as the co-operator of RAMP Food Pantry which distributes needed food supplies to the local community.
“I would like to say thank you to Gov. Bevin, my wonderful family and the people of District 3 for supporting me and giving me this opportunity,” said Stepp. “It has been an aspiration of mine for many years to be in a position where I can be of service to Martin County, and with this appointment, those dreams are coming true. I look forward to serving the residents of Martin County and District 3.”
This appointment will take effect immediately. Stepp will serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
