Martin Co. Transfer car found

Martin County jailers vehicle that was carjacked by Mark Crouch on Monday July 9, in Johnson County; has been found a week later in Lawrence County.

A prisoner transport car from Martin County has finally been and returned back to its homeplace .

Martin County Sheriff John. H. Kirk says they found the grey, older model Ford Crown Victoria up a long hollow along Route 581 in Lawrence County, Kentucky. The discovery spot was just a few miles where it was overtaken by Martin County prisoner Mark Crouch after he beat up deputy jailer Larry Maynard, pushing out of the moving vehicle, dragging him on the asphalt for several yards, resulting in moderate injuries for officer Maynard

Sheriff Kirk says they had to use a 4×4 tractor to get it out.

Mark A. Crouch, 32, was wanted for Escape 1st Degree, Assault 3rd Degree – Police Officer , Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Felony Theft over $500 but under$10,000; after he attacked and physically assaulted the Martin County transport officer in Johnson County and stole his cruiser. Crouch was also a wanted fugitive from Martin County for Burglary 2nd Degree, Bail Jumping 1st Degree, and misdemeanor criminal mischief 3rd degree.

Crouch was recaptured Saturday, July 9, in the Silver Creek area of Wayne County, not far from the town of Fort Gay, in a multiple department operation including the U.S. Marshals, Wayne County Sheriff’s department, and the Martin County Sheriff’s office.

Mark Crouch was found at a residence in the county. Another man who was with him, Christopher Chaffins, was later arrested on warrants.out of Mingo County, West Virginia; for Burglary, Petit Larceny, and Transferring or Receiving stolen property.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office will be holding an auction. The items being auctioned are seized items. The sheriff has the right to accept or decline any or all bids, as well as set a reserve on any items.

Inspection of these items can be done on July 19th and 20th between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. only. The auction will be July 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. Inspection and auction will be conducted behind the old courthouse and the new Martin County Government Center.

The items being auctioned off will be the following:

1. Leisure Time Technology-poker machine: A total of 4 machines.
2. U.S. Games, Inc. Poker Machine: A total of 4.
3. Miscellaneous poker machine: A total of 2.
4. 2001 Toyota Tacoma (silver).
5. 2006 Chevy 1500 (red).
6. 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo (black).
7. 2002 Cadillac Deville (gold).
8. 2004 GMC Envoy (silver).
9. 2000 Chevy Monte carlo (white).
10. 2002 Oldsmobile Alero (tan).
11. 2007 Chevy Cobalt (red).
