TRAIN VS. SUV IN DOWNTOWN LOUISA; TRAIN WINS BUT NO INJURIES

A Louisa man misjudged the crossing and failed to notice an oncoming CSX train heading northbound and clipped the train with the front of his SUV this morning in downtown Louisa

 

LOUISA, KY. — On July 3, 2018 @ 09:28am the Louisa Police and Fire Departments responded to a vehicle versus train collision on Franklin Street.

Sgt. Ed Cordle discovered upon arrival that Victor Penix, 49 of Louisa, had misjudged the crossing and failed to notice an oncoming CSX train heading northbound. Mr. Penix attempted to back his vehicle up but was unable to clear the tracks causing the train to clip the front bumper of his 2002 GMC SUV.

No injuries were reported at the scene. The train suffered little to no damage, Penix’ vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.
