Police in Franklin County are investigating the death of a 3 year old who was found in a hot car on Friday.

Frankfort Police and Franklin County Coroner Will Harrod are investigating the death of a three-year-old boy who was found unresponsive inside a hot vehicle Friday.

Calvin Hedges, son of Tonie Columbia and Edward B. Hedges, was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. after being transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center. A cause of death has not been announced. According to Harrod, an autopsy was performed Saturday, but results will take a few weeks.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with family,” the Franklin County Health Department posted on its Facebook page. “When this hits so close to home, we want to help remind all those with pets and children to always leave something like a shoe or cell phone in the back (of the vehicle) to make sure everyone gets out safe.”

A funeral service is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Frankfort. Visitation is set for 6 p.m. until the service.

Calvin was born on April 1, 2015. He is survived by siblings, Nolan Joseph, Serenity, Elijah and Hyrum, according to his obituary.
