Two weeks ago we ran an article from the Kentucky High School Athletics Association concerning a new program that awards students who participate in multiple sports at their schools. Eligible student-athletes must participate in THREE different sports during the school year, one in Fall, one in Winter and one in Spring.
It’s appropriately called, The Triple Threat Award.
This is the first year in which the awards have been given and lo and behold my middle Grayson granddaughter, 13 year-old Allicen Grayson, a rising freshman at Martin Co. High School (SCHS), got one of the first awards!
I don’t know how many of these awards were given out in Martin County, or for that matter, any school in Ky., but I do know I’m awfully proud to be the papaw of one of the first year award winners. Alli played varsity volleyball, cheerleading (her team won the regionals for the second straight year) and softball this year and will do the same next season.
She is the daughter of Kraig and Christy Grayson of Inez, and also the grandaughter of Larry and Illene Smith of Warfield, Ky. and Mark and Glenda Grayson of Louisa.
All that while earning a 4.0 GPA, participating in Dance, ETC.’s elite dance team, and also being a member of her school’s Beta Club.
If you have a son or daughter or grandkids who earned this award, send a photo of her/him holding their awards and we will post them in TheLevisaLazer.com.
