LAWRENCE COUNTY ARREST LIST – MAY 8-14, 2018

MAY 15, 2018 – written by WADE QUEEN

From 12:01 A.M. May 8 thru to 11:59 P.M., May 14, there were at least 106 individuals who were arrested and were brought to be lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. Out of those 106 or so, 17 of those arrested were from Lawrence County.

For most of last week, the number of arrests went substantially down in our area, which for a few days lowered the number of inmates being housed at the BSRDC. At the end of last week the number went down from the mid 350s at the beginning of May, to at the 310s. But arrests went back up over the weekend and thru Monday, raising the number of inmates being housed at the BSRDC

As of 6:00 A.M., Tuesday morning May 15, there were 336 inmates lodged at Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville; in which the maximum designated capacity for the BSRDC is to hold 225 inmates. That is just under 50% over capacity. For comparison, the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville, Kentucky, as of 6 A.M. Tuesday morning, May 15, has 371 inmates booked, in a facility that designated maximum capacity is for 400 inmates. That is at just over 94% capacity.
