Members of the Wayne County Sheriff Dept. Drug Enforcement Unit (WCSD DEU) made a traffic stop on a vehicle in Fort Gay Wednesday and discovered meth, heroin and marijuana .

SUSPECTED Ft. Gay meth cooker Jeremy BurrisJeremy Burris, 30 was in possession of Distribution Amounts of Methamphetamine and in Possession of Heroin and Marijuana.

While on the traffic stop officers could smell a chemical odor consistent with a Clandestine Methamphetamine lab in the trailer park Where Burris was stopped.

The WCSD DEU tracked the odor down to Burris’ trailer and applied for a search warrant with Magistrate Runyon.

After obtaining a search warrant the WCSD DEU, WCSD deputies, and Fort Gay PD executed the search warrant and found a gas generator and reaction vessel that were recently active (lab) , multiple inactive labs, and a large quantity of materials and chemicals.

The Fort Gay Fire Dept. assisted in ventilating the residence. The Mayor of Fort Gay, Joetta Hatfield was also present.

Wayne Co. Sheriff Rick Thompson says the DEU has received numerous tips on the suspect and more arrests are pending.
