Carl David Marcum

1955 — 2018

 

Carl David Marcum, 62, of Fort Gay, West Virginia went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Kings Daughters Medical Center of Ashland, KY.

Mr. Marcum was born November 3, 1955 in Jonesville, Virginia, the son of the late Pete and the late Fern (Burke) Marcum.

Mr. Marcum was a graduate of Berea College and Marshall University. He was a member of the Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church and a retired agent with the West Virginia Cooperative Extension Service where he served Wayne County for 33 years.

In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by his Father in Law and friend Arvil Webb.

Carl leaves behind his wife of almost 35 years; Marsha (Webb) Marcum; a daughter, Bethany Marcum of Fort Gay, WV and one son Ben Marcum and wife Ashley of Cattletsburg, Ky; and two beautiful granddaughters that he cherished; Rosie and Rylee Marcum. Mr. Marcum also leaves behind two sisters: Phyllis Hurd of Jonesville,Va and Rita Asbury of East Lynn,WV and two brothers; Bill Marcum of Greenville SC and Pete Marcum of Abingdon, Va.

Funeral Service will be held at the Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church in Prichard WV on Thursday April 12, 2018 at 11:00am with Rev. Randy Ratcliffe officiating.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa Ky and one hour prior to funeral services at the church.

Burial will be in the Bledsoe Cemetery, Jonesville Va on Friday, April 13 after visitation from 11 am to 1:00 pm on Friday at the Robinette Funeral Home at 146 Maple Drive Jonesville, VA 24263.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, Big Hurricane Creek Prichard, WV 25555

Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home of Louisa Ky and Robinette Funeral Home of Jonesville Va.
