SHELDON CLARK ESCAPES LAWRENCE CO. ON DAWGS’ SENIOR NIGHT, 72-70

Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. (8-21) lost a nail biter 72-70 against Sheldon Clark ( 10-18 ) on Senior night Tuesday in a great game as the Dawgs wrapped up regular season play.

LC's # 23 Weston Hardin blocks out SC's 6'10" freshman center Trey James in action last night at Bulldog Arena. LC's #0 Chase Sartin and SC's #33 Eric Webb move in for position.

Bulldog Senior Basketball player Weston Hardin and Team Videographer Senior Bradley Copley were honored before the Sheldon Clark game.

 

The Bulldogs trailed 51-39 going into the final period out scored the Cardinals by 10 points but it wasn’t enough to get the victory.

Lawrence Co. put four in double figures with balanced scoring. Cody Maynard led the way with 15 points and made 3 three pointers, Baden Gillispie tallied 14 points on 4 three pointers, Tyler Maynard finished with 13 points, Chase Sartin chipped in with 12 points, Noah Fairchild 7 points, Alex Ratliff 5 points, Lone Senior Weston Hardin had 4 points.

LCHS hit 11 three pointers and went 8-17 from the charity stripe.

SC's Trey James dunks on LC in last night's contest. James, a 6'10" freshman had  23 pts 9 reb 7 blks and 6 dunks in SC's 72-70 win.

Sheldon Clark was led by Trey James who just missed a triple double and scored 23 points, Brady Dingess tallied 18 points, Ethan Colegrove 13 points, Senior Austin Horn 8 points, Braxton Maynard and Ian Horn 5 points each.

SCHS hit 6 three pointers and went 13-20 from the line.

Lawrence Co. will begin postseason play next Tuesday at Floyd Central in the 58th District tournament.

Sheldon Clark will travel to Huntington St. Joe to finish out regular season action on Friday night.

COACH’S COMMENT

“… Weston is a kid who plays so hard and fights for us defensively. He’s the most physical player we have and he did a great job battling against a much bigger player tonight. He’s a great kid and a great student. He’s also already enlisted in the military. Great all around kid. Very proud of him.”

“… Tonight we played hard. Just had a small 3 minute stretch to start the second half that was the difference in the game. Also going 8-17 from the line was a back breaker.”
