GlenDale, Arizona — The Dallas Cowboys wanted Louisa native Jason Michael but the Arizona Cardinals got him.
Arizona hired Michael as its tight ends Coach after Michael turned down the Cowboys offer early this week.
Micheal is the son of Eddie Wayne and Sue Michael of Louisa. He is a graduate of Lawrence Co. High school where he was a two sport star and Western Ky University where he led the Hilltoppers to the 2002 Division 1-AA National Championship as a quarterback throwing for 185 yards in the title game vs McNeese State.
Michael, 39, replaces Rick Christophel on new Arizona coach Steve Wilks’ staff.
Michael spent the past two seasons as the Titans’ quarterbacks coach after serving as their offensive coordinator in 2014 and 2015. He previously coached tight ends for the Chargers (2011-13), Titans (2008) and Jets (2007).
He began his career in 2005 as a quality control coach for the Raiders and also has worked for the Jets and 49ers along with the University of Tennessee as a Grad Assistant.
