Harris was already facing charges from similar drug arrest in august…

What started out as a simple public intoxication arrest late Sunday afternoon became a surprisingly whole lot more serious when the arrest subject was discovered by the arresting officer to be in possession of multiple different types of illegal narcotics.

Donnie K. HarrisSometime shortly after 3 P.M. Sunday afternoon November 12, Sergeant deputy Chuck Jackson of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department arrested Donnie K. Harris, 37, of Ulysses, Kentucky (which is in the southern part of Lawrence County) initially on a public intoxication charge after observing Harris appearing to be under the influence.

While searching Harris, sergeant Jackson discovered that Harris had on him several types of major hardcore illegal drug substances, which accounted for seven of the nine charges that were filed against him.

In total, Donnie K. Harris was arrested and charged with: • POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE) [3 SEPARATE CHARGE COUNTS], • POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN), • IMPORTING HEROIN, • PUBLIC INTOXICATION-CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (EXCLUDES ALCOHOL), • DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS, • POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 2ND DEGREE – CODEINE, • TRAFFICKING CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE (LSD).

Harris was taken to and lodged at 5:29 P.M. in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.

Harris was already in legal trouble in Lawrence County, after having been indicted by a grand jury on August 12, 2017 after an arrest for possession of meth and codeine as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

Donnie K. Harris was also arrested June 8, 2017, and again on August 20, 2017, both times for a FAILURE TO APPEAR. He was also picked up July 31, 2017 to serve a guilty plea jail sentence CONTEMPT OF COURT charge.

From February 2002 until June 2009, Donnie K. Harris was arrested nine times, for numerous minor misdemeanor, automobile motor traffic, and court bench warrants charges.

But after June 2009, it appears that Donnie K. Harris stayed out of trouble, at least in the local area, for several years, until this past summer 2017, when his latest criminal misadventures took more of a serious nature.
