LOUISA WATER AND SEWER COMMISSION

REGULAR MEETING

NOVEMBER 7, 2017

The Louisa Water and Sewer Commission met in regular business session November 7, 2017 with Mayor Harold Slone presiding. In attendance were Board Members Heath Preston, Jeff Kinser, Steven Lycans, Mitch Castle and Sam Lester.

  1. Call to order, 6:06pm
  2. Board heard presentation from Scott Bradley, with Brenntag, who provided pricing to provide chemicals to the water and wastewater treatment plant. Bradley advised he could provide a significant savings over current chemical provider. No action was taken at this time. Pricing will be sent to Water Plant supervisor to determine compatibility before purchase.
  3. Motion by Heath Preston to approve minutes from October 2017 meeting, Second by Jeff Kinser, all approve.
  4. Motion by Steven Lycans to approve financials, Second by Mitch Castle to approve financials, all approve.
  5. Employee Martin Wright provided price estimates for installing Cynthia Chapel Pump station to correct a low water pressure issue. Three estimates were provided, Blue Line Stream, $6,400, Labor only, Water Dogs, $8,700, and Dwight Keeton, $6,200, which included labor and parts. Motion by Sam Lester, Second by Jeff Kinser, to hire Dwight Keeton, the cheapest estimate,to install pump station. All Approved.
  6. Mayor provided updates for building projects at the City Garage on HWY 2565, Expected to be complete by November 23, 2017.
  7. Discussed conversion of Tanker truck to Dump truck. Cost for conversion was quoted at approx $12,000, with $3,000 credit for old tank and pumps. Motion by Sam Lester, Second by Jeff Kinser, All approve.
  8. Mayor provided update on water meter project. Mayor and other employees met with NECO for a kickoff meeting, Installations will begin November 13, 2017 with estimated completion in January 2018. A public notice will be issued later this week letting customers know what to expect.
  9. Motion by Heath Preston, second by Sam Lester to adjourn at 7:48pm.
