WEBB GETS LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE IN GARTINS’ DOUBLE MURDER

August 1, 2017 — A notorious case in Lawrence county ‘s recent history came to a close Friday when Stanley Webb, Jr. was sentenced by Circuit Judge John D. Lemaster to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Webb had pled guilty to shooting Lois Gartin, 79, and her son Michael at their home near Blaine, Ky. last Spring.

The prescription fraud cases of Janice and Kevin Gauze were put up until next year by Judge Preston on 2-19-18.

Stanley Webb Stanley Webb Jr., 48 of Logan, Ohio was present and sentenced on charges of 2 COUNTS OF MURDER, CONVICTED FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM AND THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING (automobile) after the murders of Lois Gartin, 79 and Michael Gartin, 52 on April 2nd, 2016 in the Blaine area. They were found shot to death at their home on Knob branch.

Webb was sentenced to Life without Parole on the double murder, 5 years on possession of the firearm and 10 years for stealing the automobile that belonged to the victims.

All charges are to run concurrent and final sentencing will be held on 8-30-17.

Other cases on the docket included:

Gauze Prescription trial, others reset by judge

Percilla A. BoggsPercilla  Boggs,  31, pled guilty and was sentenced to 18 months for COMPLICITY POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1st degree, 6 months for COMPLICITY POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA and 6 months for COMPLICITY THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OR SHOPLIFTING, all charges are run concurrent with each other and final sentencing will be on August 30, 2017.

On a separate case the defendant pled guilty to BAILJUMPING 1st, and received 1 year consecutive to the first case. Final sentencing will be held on 8-30-17.

Gary Haven Mills Cochran, 50 was present on charges of THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING ALL OTHERS $500 OR MORE BUT UNDER $10,000 and PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER. The judge heard several motions in this case and the next report date was not noted.

Kelly Kasey Collins, 39 was present for a probation revocation hearing, and hearing was scheduled for 8-11-17.

Janice Gauze, 47 was present on the charge of COMPLICITY PRESENT FRAUDULENT CLAIMS TO DEFRAUD KMAP, The trial was continued and reset for 2-19-18 with a report date of 1-26-18.

 

Kevin Gauze, 48 was present for the charges of 2 COUNTS OF COMPLICITY PRESENT FRAUDULENT CLAIMS TO DEFRAUD KMAP, COMPLICITY FORGERY OF A PRESCRIPTION, 1st offense, COMPLICITY DISPENSE/ADMINISTER A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1st offense, COMPLICITY WRONGFULLY FILLING PRESCRIPTIONS, 1st offense and COMPLICITY UNAUTHORIZED PROCUREMENT OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. A motion for continuance was granted and the trial was continued and reset for 2-19-18 with a report date of 1-26-18.

 

Nathaniel Lemaster, 24 was present for a motion to revoke probation on a previous case and to set aside the pretrial diversion. The pretrial diversion was set aside and sentencing will be held on 8-30-17.

 

Derek Matthew Maynard, 27 Pled guilty to amended charges of  THEFT OF THE IDENTITY OF ANOTHER WITHOUT CONSENT and received 2 months on every charge with the charges to run concurrent and time served, COMPLICITY 1st DEGREE POSSESSION OF COCAINE, 2nd offense, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 3rd degree (drug unspecified) and COMPLICITY TO USE OR POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, 1st offense. The defendant was ordered to be released on that day with time served.

 

Eric Nolan, 35 was present on the charge of ASSAULT, 1st DEGREE. Several motions that were heard in this case and attorneys to send order to get medical records. The next hearing will be held on 8-9-17.

 

Keith Penix, 26 The defendant was present for a probation revocation hearing for a felony offense. A hearing was held with witness Billy Slone, the defendant’s probation was revoked and the he was remanded to the department of corrections to serve his sentence.

 

Joshua Ratliff, 34 The defendant was not present for a status hearing on his case, a bench warrant was issued.

 

Johnny Daryl Vaughn Jr., 42 was present on the charge of COMPLICITY TO ROBBERY , 2nd degree. A hearing was held in the court fines sufficient funds to pay drug testing fees. The next court hearing was not noted.

 

Bobby Wellman, 34 was present for a probation revocation hearing on a felony offense. The case is set for status next month on 8-30-17.
