Kentucky Power Director Del Borden, left, presents Ashland Community and Technical College’s Paul Seasor and President Kay Adkins with a $75,000 rebate check earned for installing energy efficient lights and HVAC at the college’s multiple campuses.

ASHLAND, Ky., June 26, 2017 – Ashland Community and Technical College on Monday received $75,000 in cash incentives from Kentucky Power after completing five energy-saving projects, including lighting and heating improvements.

The upgrades were installed at the College Drive campus, as well as Roberts Drive, Technology Park and Oakview Road locations. The school worked with Kentucky Power’s Commercial Incentive Prescriptive Custom Program to earn cash back for the completed improvements.

“Providing programs that encourage investment in energy efficiency projects is one way we can help our customers save money and energy,” said E.J. Clayton, Kentucky Power’s energy efficiency and consumer programs manager. “For educational facilities like Ashland Community and Technical College, less money spent on electricity can provide opportunities for investment in programs benefitting the students, teachers and the college.”

The Kentucky Power Commercial Incentive Prescriptive Custom Program has assisted commercial customers in making the switch to energy-efficient technologies by offering information and recommendations, as well as cash incentives for installing energy efficiency upgrades. From 2011 to June 2016, more than 900 projects were completed through the incentive program, with commercial customers earning nearly $2.7 million in cash incentives from Kentucky Power.

“In addition to keeping up with the latest technologies for our students, ACTC must also keep up with the newest technologies for reducing our energy footprint,” said Dr. Kay Adkins, the college’s president. “Kentucky Power’s Commercial Incentive Prescriptive Custom Program is a great way to accomplish that goal.”
