Bro. Paul Henry Schmidt

1963 — 2017

Bro. Paul Henry Schmidt, 54, of Grayson went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 05, 2017 at his residence.

Bro. Paul was born January 3, 1963 in Bellefonte, KY a son of the late Henry Bascum and Alta May Scott Schmidt. He started preaching at the age of 18, attending and graduated from Boyce Bible College in Louisville, preaching at Elizabeth Jarrell Baptist in Louisa, 2nd Baptist Church in Ashland, Hyland Heights in Catlettsburg, First Baptist Church in Inez and currently First Baptist Church of Grayson.

He worked for the Martin County Board of Education for 10 years, where he also was assistant football coach. This past season he was asked to be the Chaplain for the East Carter High School football team.

Bro. Paul is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jean Kitchen Schmidt; three sons, Paul Henry (Paige) Schmidt Jr. of Inez, Joshua (Lauren) Schmidt of Grayson and Bro. Samuel (Andrea) Schmidt of Nicholasville, KY; one brother, James Russell Schmidt of Raceland; two sisters, Alice Elnora Diedrich and Mary Rose Schmidt both of Wurtland KY; two grandsons, Samuel Luke Schmidt, and Paul Henry “Trey” Schmidt III; first cousins who he thought of as a sister and brother, Linda Scott Hixson and Bruce Hixson.

Services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Grayson with his sons Samuel, Joshua, Paul Henry Schmidt and assisting Donnie Fox and Paul Badgett. Burial will be in the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Inez and also 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Grayson.
