Color Blaze Fun Run 2017

Members of the Scott family of Louisa for whom the event was held this year.

The 1st Annual Color Blaze Fun Run for A Cure on Saturday, May 13, 2017 was a HUGE success. Almost 400 excited runners and volunteers made this event one to remember in Louisa.

Organizer Mitch Castle and a host of others spent many hours to ensure that everyone who participated had a day of great fun.

Event coordinator Mitch Castle called the Color Blaze 5K a SUCCESS in its initial year.“What happened yesterday is just another example of why I keep saying we have the best people in the world,” Castle said. “What God has been able to accomplish in Louisa in 2017 is just amazing. We thought the prom night for special needs individuals in our community couldn’t be beat. Then we welcomed over 400 participants to our First ever Color Blaze 5K.”

The response to our call to action to help a neighbor and our friend was unbelievable, Castle told The Lazer.

“Thank you to our volunteers, our participants, our wonderful sponsors, and to those who prayed for us. Not only was this a huge success but something we hope to continue for years to come.”

He said the total amount raised will not be available for a week or so but will be reported later as it continues to come in.

The event was held for the Scott family of Louisa. Chris Scott was diagnosed with cancer about a month ago and is currently undergoing treatment.

“We wanted to help them, had an idea, and God did the rest.” Castle said. “Chris, Rebekah, Sarah and Hannah are very appreciative of the outpouring of love they have received from this loving gesture. The goal is to make this a yearly event and help as many families as possible, similar to what the Scott Family is currently facing.

Donations can still be made through Louisa United Methodist Church, as well as #ScottStrong.

A GREAT big shout out to the sponsors of this event. The Louisa United Methodist Church, the city of Louisa, the Louisa Police Department, the volunteers, those that attended and participated in the run, cookout and silent auction.

“Looking forward to next year.”
