LAWRENCE STUDENTS IN MSU OPERA PRESENTATION

MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State University Opera will present “The Hills Are Alive,” an evening of scenes from music, theater, operetta, and opera on Sunday, April 23, at 8 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall of the Baird Music Hall.
The event is free and open to the public.

Two Lawrence Co. students will be included in the operatic cast, Matt Hammond and Kaitlyn Osborn.

The theme for the evening is Austria, music from and about Austria. It will include scenes from “The Sound of Music,” “The Marriage of Figar,” “Don Giovanni,” “Die Tote Stadt,” “Die Fledermaus,” and “The Merry Widow.”

Dr. Roma Prindle, associate professor of music, is the director of MSU Opera. William Murphy, visiting lecturer in music, is the collaborative pianist for the production. Ryan Wardell, graduate student in vocal performance, is the assistant director. Consultant for opera production is Eric Brown, visiting lecturer in voice.

Students featured in the production include: Meredith Ailiff, freshman, Louisville; Broderick Beighle, Williamstown junior; Janessa Broadhurst, Louisville freshman; Alex Castle, Ashland freshman; Noah Colley, Portsmouth, Ohio, junior; Katie Gemberling, Columbus, Indiana, sophomore; Eliza Eaches, Wheelersburg, Ohio, junior; Matt Hammond, Louisa junior; Tristan Hinkle, Barbourville sophomore; Summer Lighthall, Independence sophomore; Austin Muncy, Ashland freshman; Kaitlyn Osborn, Louisa junior; Bugs Reinhardt, Minford, Ohio, junior; Tag Sadler, Portsmouth, Ohio, junior; Benjamin Scott, Lexington freshman; Reagan Stamper, Hazard junior; Katie Tracy, Frankfort freshman; Ryan Wardell, Big Stone Gap, Virginia, graduate student; Jasmine Wheeler, Morehead junior, and Sarah White, West Union, Ohio, freshman.
