LOUISA STREET CLOSED FOR REPAIR OF MAJOR WATER LEAK

UPDATE: Sat. morning March 4, 2017 – Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt says leak is fixed and all customers should now have water.

Public Announcement:

City workers have been working since Thursday evening about 7:00 pm when a major water main blew out right across from Louisa City Hall. Lazer photo by Glenda Grayson

Louisa Water Department is presently working on a major leak in front of city hall on Main Cross Street. The street is closed to thru traffic.

The Louisa Water Department is presently working on a major leak in front of city hall on Main Cross Street. The intersection of Main Cross & Pike Streets is presently closed. Please use alternate routes when traveling through Louisa.

There has been no estimated time the leak will be repaired as many homes and businesses in Louisa are without water and temps are expected to be near the zero mark tonight. Lazer photo Glenda Grayson

Mayor’s message:

“…Gina, I am out of town until Monday. However, I have been in contact with the water company and understand the part needed to repair the leak is en route now and should be resolved shortly. We have used the county Code Red system to reach out to residents concerning a boil water advisory.
