Update on the logging accident yesterday morning:

The rough logging conditions made it difficult for first responders to reach logger Roger Young in a tragic accident in Lawrence County, Ky. this weekend. Photos compliments of LCEMS-Mike Woods

BLAINE, Ky. — 68 year old Roger Young (listed address as Elliot County) who was injured in a Lawrence Co. logging accident Friday, has died as a result of his injuries.

The accident happened on the left fork of Cains Creek Rd. in Blaine, KY.

Young was injured after a limb fell on him  at around  8:00 A.M. Friday morning. It was reported that Young was cutting a tree and when it fell it struck another tree resulting in limbs coming down and striking Young in the head.

First responders included Blaine and Webbville Volunteer Fire Departments along with Lawrence County Emergency Management, who had a difficult time getting the man off of the hill, and he was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV. at about 10:15 am where he was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m.

The name of the logging company has not been released. “I looked for a name for the company, couldn’t find one… They didn’t have one on the trucks… Nothing. Someone said they are from Texas, but not confirmed,” said Lazer reporter Tane’ Mosely who was on the scene.
