SMITH MURDER CASE GETS FIRST HEARING

Lawrence County Circuit Court Hearing

Jack Smith was among the full docket on Friday, January 27th. The accused murderer from Martin County appeared in court moving his case along with a motion for Jury questionaires. His case was moved from Martin Co. after he and his girlfriend Amanda Bowen was indicted for the murders of 3 people including a 10 year-old girl before burning their home in August of 2014.

Circuit Court action;

Grover J. AllenGrover Allen, 36, was present on charges of COMPLICITY 1ST DEGREE POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, COCAINE, COMPLICITY ATTEMPT/OBTAIN A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE BY FRAUD/FALSE STATEMENT/FORGERY, TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE AND COMPLICITY TO USE/POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, 1ST OFFENSE.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anthony BartAnthony Bart, 20 was present to be arraigned on charges of COMPLICITY TO ROBBERY, 1ST DEGREE, THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING/DISP FIREARM AND WANTON ENDANGERMENT, 1ST DEGREE. A public defender is to be appointed and pretrial will be held on 2-24-17.

 

 

 

Christopher Bartram, 32 was present on charges FLAGRANT NON SUPPORT. Defendant was granted a ROR/MCR bond.

 

 

Leeanna Blackburn, 27 was present on a motion to REVOKE PROBATION. The motion was granted.

BoggsPercilla Boggs, 31 was arraigned on charges of COMPLICITY POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE, METHAMPHETAMINE, COMPLICITY TO BUY/POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA AND COMPLICITY OF THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OR DISP SHOPLIFTING U/500. Pretrial set for 2-24-17.

 

 

 

 

 

Michael K. Cordle. Michael Cordle, 21 was present for arraignment on charges of POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE (METHAMPHETAMINE) AND TRAFFICKING IN MARIJUANA, LESS THAN 8 OZ, 1ST DEGREE. Pretrial date set for 2-24-17.

 

 

 

Matthew Diamond, 32 was arraigned on FLAGRANT NON SUPPORT. Pretrial date set for 2-24-17.

 

 

Vanessa Dillon Vanessa Dillon, 29 was present for a PROBATION VIOLATION FOR FELONY OFFENSE. A hearing was held with Witness for the Commonwealth, Billy Slone. Probation was revoked and defendant was remanded to the Dept. of Corrections to serve her sentence.

 

 

 

 

 

Shawn A. FitzpatrickShawn Fitzpatrick, 22 was present on charges of COMPLICITY RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY (FIREARM) AND WANTON ENDANGERMENT, 1ST DEGREE. The case was reset for 2-10-17.

 

 

 

 

 

GibsonWalter Gibson, 34 was present on a motion to see if defendant completed his diversion. Motion was denied.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lowell Hayes Jr., 26 was arraigned on COMPLICITY THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OR DISP AUTO, AND PERSISTENT FELONY OFFENDER. Pretrial date set for 2-24-17.

 

 

 

Terry HensleyTerry Hensley, 43 was present for a motion to reduce bond on charges of ASSAULT, 4TH DEGREE (DOMESTIC VIOLENCE) 3RD OR GREATER WITHIN 5 YEARS. The defendant was referred to Home Incarceration.

On a second case:
ASSAULT, 4TH DEGREE, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, 3RD DEGREE, TERRORISTIC THREATENING, 3RD DEGREE AND ALCOHOL INTOXICATION IN A PUBLIC PLACE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OR 2ND OFFENSE. Defendant referred to Home Incarceration on bond.

Keith PenixKeith Penix, 26 Pled guilty on charges of COMPLICITY TO BURGLARY, 3RD DEGREE (received a sentence of 3 years of supervised probation over 5 years and other conditions) COMPLICITY (3 years) and COMPLICITY USE/POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, 1ST OFFENSE ( 6 months) Final sentencing will be held on 2-24-17.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Devon Perry Devon Perry, 20 was arraigned on charges of COMPLICITY ROBBERY, 1ST DEGREE. Pretrial set for 2-24-17.

 

 

 

 

 

William Green Ramey, 37 was arraigned on charges of COMPLICITY THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OR DISP AUTO. Bond was evaluated and defendant is set for a Home Incarceration Evaluation. Pretrial was set for 2-24-17.

 

 

Anthony D. RatliffAnthony Ratliff, 33 was arraigned on COMPLICITY POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE(METHAMPHETAMINE) AND COMPLICITY TO BUY OR POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA. Pretrial was set for 2-24-17 and bond is to remain at $5000.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ronald RatliffRonald Ratliff, 50 was present and pled guilty on an amended charge of THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING, AMENDED TO A MISDEMEANOR AND GIVEN TIME SERVED, CRIMINAL TRESPASSING, 3RD DEGREE WAS DISMISSED.

 

 

 

 

 

Cassandra E. RobertsonCassandra Robertson, 47 was arraigned on BURGLARY, 3RD DEGREE and pretrial date set for 2-24-17. Bond was reviewed and defendant to receive a Home Incarceration Evaluation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Jack D. SmithJack D. Smith, 44 was present in court on a motion to set a date for jury questionaire for his trial on 3 COUNTS OF COMPLICITY TO MURDER, 3 COUNTS OF COMPLICITY TO ROBBERY, 1ST DEGREE, ARSON, 2ND DEGREE AND COMPLICITY TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE. The court set the date for the questionaires to be on March 6, 2017 at 9:00 am.

 

 

 

 

 

Amanda ThomasAmanda Thomas, 35 was in court and pled guilty on charges of COMPLICITY BURGLARY, 3RD DEGREE (5 YEARS-DIVERSION UNSUPERVISED PROBATION ON CONDITIONS TO COMPLETE DRUG COURT) COMPLICITY, 1ST DEGREE POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE COCAINE, 1ST OFFENSE (3 YEARS) AND THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OR DISP FROM BUILDING U $500 (6 MONTHS ) All charges are run concurrent.

ShortWilliam Short, 53 was set for arraignment on charges of FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 1ST DEGREE, WANTON ENDANGERMENT, 1ST DEGREE, OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICHLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL/DRUGS AND RECKLESS DRIVING. Defendant was not present for arraignment and Commonwealth requested a Bench Warrant.
