Statement from Auditor Mike Harmon on Passage of Senate Bill 3
FRANKFORT, Ky. (January 5, 2017) – “During my time as a member of the General Assembly, and now as Kentucky’s Auditor of Public Accounts, I have long supported and advocated that greater transparency is needed within our pension systems so the people of our great Commonwealth know how their tax dollars are being utilized toward our retirement systems.
The passage of Senate Bill 3 is an outstanding first step toward that goal of greater accountability and transparency, and I commend Sen. Chris McDaniel, the bill’s co-sponsors, and the full Senate for their decision to shine more light on the legislators’ pension system. It is my hope the General Assembly will not rest until we have full transparency for all of Kentucky’s public pension systems.”
