LOUISA, KY. — One person has died in a traffic accident this morning near Louisa Food City. Three more were rushed to TRMC for treatment.

At 09:28 am units from the Louisa Police and Fire Departments responded to a two vehicle collision on KY 3 just south of the Food City intersection.

Lawrence County Coroner Mike Wilson identified the victim as Claudia Copley, 53, of Louisa,Ky.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that unit 1 (driven by Claudia Copley) was traveling southbound when the driver lost control of her vehicle and began sliding into the path of unit 2 which was traveling north. Unit 2 was unable to stop, striking unit 1 in the passenger side causing both vehicles to do a 180 degree turn before coming to a stop, the tentative police report said.

Driver and passenger of unit 2 were transported by Net Care ambulance service to Three Rivers Medical Center for treatment.

Ms. Copley was also transported to TRMC and was pronounced dead by Wilson at 11:10 am. this morning.

The driver of car number 2 was William Vance.

Funeral arrangements are on the Lazer Funeral section.
