FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 19, 2016) – Kentucky State Parks today announced that it will solicit requests for three of its 9-hole golf courses.
Requests for Proposals (RFPs) will be issued for the 9-hole golf courses at Carter Caves State Resort Park in Olive Hill and Kincaid Lake State Park near Falmouth. Kentucky State Parks is looking for a private concessionaire to operate these two courses.
Additionally, the park system will issue a Request for Information (RFI) for the 9-hole golf course at General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton. Kentucky State Parks is seeking ideas from an organization or company for other uses of the golf course.
The requests will be available through the Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet.
“This decision will improve efficiency at our state parks and save taxpayer dollars,” said Don Parkinson, Secretary of the Cabinet of Tourism, Arts and Heritage. “We hope that these requests will generate proposals and ideas that better serve the needs of Kentuckians and our guests.”
Kentucky State Parks are no longer able to maintain the courses at the three parks due to decreasing number of rounds played and rising maintenance costs. This decision will not affect employment at the parks.
Currently, Kentucky State Parks operate twelve 18-hole courses parks and four 9-hole courses across the state. For more information about golf at Kentucky State Parks, visit www.parks.ky.gov
