 Louisa Rotary Farmer’s Appreciation nightGuest Speaker for the annual Louisa Rotary and Kentucky Farm Bureau dinner was Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles.

The Louisa Rotary held their Annual Farmers Appreciation Dinner on November 10, 2016.  The farmers of Lawrence Co. were recognized and celebrated by a delicious dinner of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, seven layer salad and a host of desserts.

Ky. State Rep. Jill York was a guest at the dinner.The guest speaker was Ryan Quarles, Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture was then introduced by Jill York, Kentucky State Representative for carter and Lawrence County. 

The Savage Family Farm was this year’s recipient of the Pioneer Farm Recognition. The family farm is named after Glen and Marie Savage and is now owned by Keith Moore and his wife.

The Savage Family Farm raises strawberries, blueberries and they produce sorghum and related products.  They are known for their delicious maple syrup and maple products.  They now have 1500 taps and working towards 2000. Keith Moore stated ” Glen and Marie were like second parents to me and I loved them”.

The farm is located at 10251 N Hwy 3 Louisa, Ky and is on the Annual Harvest Tour that happens in late October of each year.
