Gertrude Rowe

1941 — 2016

Gertrude Rowe, 75, went to be with the Lord from her home in Rush, Kentucky with her loving family surrounding her on Saturday, October 15, 2016.

Gertrude was born June 25, 1941 in Louisa, Ky. a daughter of the late Tom and Virgie McKenzie Horton. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Tom and Virgie Horton,  she was preceded in death by, husband, Joseph Rowe; daughter, Judy Ann Childers; son, Michael Jason Holbrook; granddaughter, April Dawn Childers; grandsons, Joseph Edward Childers and Derek Cameron Henry; siblings, Wayne and Jesse Horton; Rose and Elwood Cyrus.

Survivors include, two sons; John Rowe of Louisa, Ky. and Joey Childers of Rush, Ky., six daughters; Sandra Rowe of Rush, Ky., Lesa (Larry) Whitt of Louisa, Ky., Ruth (Timmy) Young of Danville, Ky.,  Susan (Michael) Henry of Louisa, Ky., Jennifer (Scotty Lay) Holbrook of Louisa, Ky., Michelle (James) Hale of Ashland, Ky., siblings; Tommy Horton, Gene (Lil) Horton, Tina (Charles) McGranahan all of Louisa, Ky., Lib (Ray) McGranahan of Denton, Ky., Joy (Woodrow) McGranahan of Hitchins, Ky., Betty Horton, and June (Kathy) Horton all of Boyd Co. Ky.; Sue (Jay) Moore of Huntington, Ind.; Irene (Bill) Keeton of Ohio. 13 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Ison officiating. Pallbearers will be, Michael Henry, Scotty Lay, Jacob Holbrook, Brian Childers, Fremy Ortega, Kyle Rowe, Joey Childers, Jay Coleman, Brandon Tomblin (honorary) Burial will follow at the Rowe Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 9:00 pm Monday, October 17, 2016 at Young Funeral Home Chapel.
