Charles Lewis Bowens

1928 – 2016

Charles Lewis Bowens, 88, of Fort Gay passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

He was born on April 21, 1928 in Wayne County to the late Christopher Columbus and Nancy Music-Bowens. He was a retired Laborer for the N&W Railroad and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. 

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons; Larry Keith Bowens and Joe Michael Bowens; one grandson Eric Keith Bowens; a son-in-law Dennis Davis as well as 10 Brothers and Sisters.

He leaves behind a loving family including three sons; Phillip Ray (Lorine) Bowens, Carl David Bowens and Charles Jason Ray Bowens all of Fort Gay; one daughter Debra Lou Davis of Huntington; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren with another one on the way as well as a host nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.

There will be a graveside service Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Greenlawn Cemetery East in Louisa.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday at the Young Funeral Home from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.
