2016 ‘Good Ol’ Girls’
Warfield, Ky. — A women’s team that calls themselves the ‘Good Ol Girls’ finished second in the Warfield Women’s Summer league tournament in 2016. The team is mostly made up of women from Lawrence Co.
The team got off to a rough start the first month of the season but with practice and getting games under their belts the team drastically improved throughout the season. Some of the women on the team hadn’t played in 20 years. The Good Ol Girls took time out of their busy schedules to show commitment and patience.
The team lost to the league and tourney champion Offenders 34-7 in a game early in the season and toward the end of the season came back and beat the Offenders 13-9 to capture their first win of the season.
The team had a large roster because everybody couldn’t make every game so the team shared time with each other. They had their ups and downs throughout the season but made it through and were playing their best softball at tournament time.
