James (Jim) Emmitt Allen

1949 — 2016

James (Jim) Emmitt Allen, 67, of Mt. Pleasant Road, Louisa, Kentucky passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident Tuesday,

Jim, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, was born July 19, 1949 in Villa Park, IL.

Jim leaves behind his wife, Leonika Inge (Thiel) Allen, of 38 years; nieces, Rebecah (Darrell) Marie Allen McFarlin, Michelle Harris, Brittany Deatherage, and Ashley Harris; nephews, Joshua Russell Allen, Matthew Kerke and Joe Kerke; mother-in-law, Martha Thiel; sister-in-laws, Evelyn (Jim) Kerke, Marlene (Keith) Grady, Ruth (Bryan) Hughes, Linda Allen Workowski; great nieces, Baylee McFarlin and Evie Deatherage.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Marie Allen, of Villa Park, IL, and a brother, Robert Lee Allen, of Marengo, IL.

Jim, a mining engineer, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University. Jim was employed by Houston International Insurance Group as a Risk Assessor.

Jim loved the Cubs and Bears franchises, he enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing, he loved to play golf, being outdoors, his many pets, and working around the house. He was a hard worker, and a dedicated employee.

Visitation will be 11:00 am until 1:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with services beginning at !2:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Jim’s favorite charity, The Lawrence County Kentucky Humane Society, P.O. Box 1331 Louisa, Kentucky 41230
