Robert Porter

1951 – 2016

Robert Porter, 65 of Huntington passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington.

Mr. Porter was born on February 11, 1951 in Fort Gay, West Virginia to the late Nebert Nelson and Anita Preston-Porter.

He served his country honorably in the United States Navy.

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a niece Elizabeth Ann Porter.

He leaves behind a host of family and friends including two daughters Madea McGuire of Huntington and Cassandra Porter of Ft. Myers, Florida; one sister Ernestine (Guy) Griffith of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania; two brothers William (Catherine) Porter and Jonathan (Angela) Porter all of Genoa, West Virginia; two grandsons Alex Locklear and Riley Locklear both of Huntington; four nieces and nephews Jeremiah Porter, Jonita Leigh Griffith, Kayla Moore and Shawn Porter.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Perry officiating. Burial will follow at the Workman Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the Young Funeral Home Chapel after 11:00 am until service time.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully asks that contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
