Justin B. BrooksOn Friday August 5, Lawrence Co. 911 received several complaints about a Black Chevy Tahoe hitting a building at the Yatesville Campground and leaving the scene.  The driver, Justin Brooks, 31, of Louisa had been camping at the campground out at Boone’s Landing.

Allegedly,  Brooks had hit a building while leaving there, then hit the guardrail two times at Route 32 on his way out.  When Deputy Mark Wheeler and Deputy Chuck Jackson  located him on Rt. 32 pulling a 27 foot camper, he told them he was “heading back towards the campground.”

He admitted to drinking earlier in the day. He appeared to be extremely intoxicated, lethargic, had a strong odor of alcohol with red glassy eyes and was unsteady on his feet according to the arrest report. When the officers gave him the PBT (Preliminary Breathalyzer Test) Mr. Brooks failed, along with all other tests given.

Brooks was arrested at this time on charges of Operating A Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs, Operating On Suspended Or Revoked License, Leaving the Scene of An Accident With Failure to Render Aid or Assistance.

He was taken to Three Rivers Medical Center for Medical Clearance and Alcohol and Drug Testing. Brooks was then transported to The Big Sandy Regional Detention Center where he remains. He was sentenced to 30 days for these charges.
