Virgie McKenzie-Horton

1915 – 2016

Virgie McKenzie-Horton, 101 of Louisa passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Hitchins, Kentucky.

Virgie was born in Louisa on February 7, 1915 to the late Hood and Lizzie Blankenship-McKenzie.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband Tom Horton; one daughter Rose Cyrus; two sons Jesse and Wayne Horton; four grandchildren Barbara Workman, Rick McGranahan, Elwood Cyrus and Judy Childers; three great grandchildren April Childers, Darren Hall and Michael Henry as well as seven siblings Jesse McKenzie, Frank McKenzie, Jasper McKenzie, Eli McKenzie, Bill McKenzie, Mary Thompson, Jane McKenzie and Gertrude Collins.

Left behind to cherish her memory include six daughters Joyce and Woodrow McGranahan of Hitchins, KY, Tina and Charles McGranahan of Louisa, KY, Elizabeth and Ray McGranahan of Hitchins, KY, Sue and Jay Moore of Huntington, IN, Gertrude Rowe of Rush, KY and Irene and Bill Keeton of Port Washington, OH; three sons Sam and Katherine Horton all of Rush, KY, Tommy Horton, Eugene and Lillie Horton all of Lawrence County, KY; one brother Bee McKenzie; one son in lawElwood Cyrus of Columbus, OH and one daughter in law Betty Horton of Rush, KY  as well as numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren all of whom will miss her dearly.

Funeral Services will be held at Young Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 12 noon with Pastor Keith Crum officiating, burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Louisa.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6-9 pm at the Young Funeral Home Chapel.
