Bill Clinton to campaign for Hillary in Prestonsburg Thursday

PRESTONSBURG — Former President Bill Clinton will campaign for his wife in Floyd County this week.

Clinton will speak at an organizational event on behalf of his wife, Hillary Clinton, at Prestonsburg Elementary School on Thursday, May 12, at 7:45 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

Hillary Clinton earned the overwhelming support of Floyd County voters when she campaigned in Prestonsburg while running against President Barack Obama in 2008. She addressed voters in a street rally near Prestonsburg High Schoolshortly before that Primary Election.

Of 12,810 people who voted in Floyd County that year, 11,714 voters chose her over Obama, according to information on the Kentucky Secretary of State website, and she also earned a majority of votes statewide, carrying 65.5 percent, or nearly 460,000 of more than 700,000 votes cast in that election.
