Lawrence Co., trailing 6-1 heading to the seventh, had left 11 runners on base and looked dead in the water before they batted around and scored five runs to send it to extra innings and then win it in walk off fashion against a good team from Western Kentucky.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Kenny Horn

“… Always great to win games like that especially walk off style, we struggled early and couldn’t get a big hit, left way too many runners on.” Felt really good for Abby Fletcher… if that was in Louisa it would have been a walk off homer, she needed a big hit like that.” Our season got off to slow start and we needed something like this and we are starting to improve and play better softball but we still have a lot to work on.” The kids are starting to buy in that our coaching staff is doing everything possible to put people in the right spots to win games.”

LC #5 Brock Turner celebrates with his teammates after hitting a first inning grand slam at the Cal Ripken experience on Monday Lawrence Co. ( 7-3 ) was very patient at the plate in the first inning as the Blue Tornado starting pitcher was wild walking two and also hitting two batters before Turner hit a 2-1 fastball over the left field wall to give LC the cushion that they needed.

Austin Bailey, Brad Parks, Jarrett Fairchild and Drake Barager all had RBI’s. Morgan Miller, Blake Jordan and Barager all crossed the plate in the victory.

The Bulldogs will play a doubleheader on Tuesday night starting at 6:00 vs Murray and 8:30 vs Marshall Co.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Travis Feltner

“… Always helps to get those first inning runs, Their guy struggled and then we get the one big hit from Brock Turner and away we go.” Andrew wasn’t great today, he struggled in the 2nd and third innings but after that he settled in.” Best thing about today was we played error free baseball and that’s what we have to do.”
