SOAR Summit 2024: A Beacon of Hope for Eastern Kentucky’s Future

Prestonsburg, KY — The SOAR (Shaping Our Appalachian Region) KY 2024 Summit brought together entrepreneurs, leaders, and innovators from across the region to collaborate on building a brighter future for Eastern Kentucky. Highlighting the event, the recent $40 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant awarded to SOAR set the stage for transformative partnerships to break down barriers and foster entrepreneurship and remote work opportunities.

Joyce Wilcox, Director of Workforce Solutions at Big Sandy Community and Technical College, remarked, “The SOAR KY 2024 Summit showcased a powerful alliance of entrepreneurs and leaders, igniting hope for Eastern Kentucky’s future. With SOAR’s award of a $40 million EDA grant, there is an opportunity for partnerships that will break down barriers and pave the way for entrepreneurship and remote work opportunities. Big Sandy Community & Technical College is poised to equip our workforce with the skills needed to thrive in the new economy.”

The summit underscored the region’s commitment to leveraging technology, education, and collaboration for economic growth and sustainability. With the continued support of organizations like Big Sandy Community & Technical College, Eastern Kentucky is ready to rise to new heights.
