Lawrence County Tourism Special Meeting, June 3, 2024

Prepared by: Susie Chambers, Secretary

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission met on Monday, June 3rd, 2024 at the Fred Vinson Tourism Office at 5:30 pm. This was a special called meeting since we did not meet in May due to scheduling conflicts. Members attending were Chairman Wes Kingsmore, Brenda Hardwick, Debbie Hill, Tom Bradley, Christy Moore, Chris Jobe and Susie Chambers.

The meeting was called to order by Wes and Tom gave the opening prayer. The April minutes were approved with a motion by Tom and a second by Brenda. All in favor. The financial report was presented showing a balance of $17,766.19.
Tom made a motion to accept the report with a second by Susie. All in favor.
Old business- The Gospelfest was attended by around 200 people. They talked of maybe changing the dates for next year. Summer Stage was a success and well attended.

New business – With a motion by Tom and a second by Chris we voted to donate $1,500.00 to the Mountain Movers Theatre. All in favor. Our tourism group is invited to attend the Wed. June 5th dinner show of When I’m Gone. We have a car show coming up on Saturday, June 8th at the Main St Park. Second Chance Auto is the sponsor and it will feature live music and food booths. The Americana Music Festival is the weekend after Septemberfest. We voted to donate $500.00 for this event with a motion by Tom and a second by Brenda. All in favor. This is a good festival to help get Ky artists on the streets of Nashville. Volunteers have continued to work on the bike trail. As soon as the county has liability insurance in place we will ask for outside volunteers. With a motion by Chris and a second by Susie we voted to buy 2 tools that will be a big help clearing the trail. The tools are $118.99 each. All in favor. Bridge Day is scheduled for June 27th at 6:00 pm.
We will meet at the Fred Vinson Tourism Center and walk across the bridge. We still don’t know the time the 4th of July parade will be or any other activities for that day. Our SOAR concert will be on July 13th. We hope to have a new tent and tablecloth by then. Christy will check to see availability. We will provide the sound system for the Fallsburg Festival. The meeting was adjourned with a motion by Tom and a second by Brenda.

Our next meeting will be on Monday, June 17th at 5:30 pm., at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course.

###

The next LC Tourism Meeting will be on Monday July 15, 2024 at the Fred M. Vinson Museum at 5:30PM.
