DRIVE-THRU SYSTEM READY THROUGHOUT AREA

NOTE: Please see the attached regarding income guideline changes for families in need of food. The change will benefit more families. Some who had not qualified for government commodities may now qualify. Also, those who have not been to the pantry in some time, may need to understand the drive thru pattern, so the map is attached as well. God’s Food Pantry made this move last year and continues to be drive through only, not parking or getting out of car necessary. In Dec. 2022, we began implementation of the use of scanners and assigned tags for families to speed up the process of getting served. This process has made it possible to serve as many as 170 households without long delays.
NEW INCOME GUIDELINES WILL HELP MORE FAMILIES THROUGH GOD’S FOOD PANTRY

Louisa, KY, March 17, 2024 — God’s Food Pantry, a program of the Louisa/Ft. Gay Ministerial

Association, received word from God’s Pantry Food Bank (Lexington) that “Effective immediately,

the TEFAP eligibility income amount is updated to 185% of the federal poverty income level.”

In the past couple of years, we’ve seen the income guidelines become more limiting. HOWEVER, this

change is significant and many people may now qualify to receive The Emergency Food Assistance

Program (TEFAP) — what most call government commodities.

For example, a family of four can make up to $4,810 monthly and qualify to receive the government

commodities called TEFAP.

Families and individuals are encouraged to come and find out if they qualify. A list of income

guidelines is posted in the window for viewing anytime at God’s Food Pantry at 107 Southland Drive

in the first unit on the end. To sign up and receive food, come to the pantry on Thursdays from 10

a.m. to 2 p.m. Each household may receive food on a monthly basis. A photo ID and proof of

Lawrence County residence (like a utility bill) are required to receive government commodities,

called TEFAP.

In addition to TEFAP, boxes include food given weekly by Walmart as part of the Feeding America

Program, and also from our local Food City. Local churches support the food pantry as well as food

drives and individual donors throughout the year. In February, 455 families received TEFAP. Each

week, volunteers pick up additional TEFAP and bring it into our community. Together, these are

making a difference for many in our community.

Again, if you Need Help?

God’s Food Pantry is located at 107 Southland Drive in the first unit and open Thursdays from 10

a.m. to 2 p.m. Services are provided monthly by household to Lawrence County residents meeting

income guidelines based on number in the home. Photo ID and proof of Lawrence County residence

are required to receive food from the government commodities program called The Emergency

Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).

Want to be a part?

Volunteers to assist with packing and carrying boxes are welcome!

Donations may be:

– brought to God’s Food Pantry on Thursdays until 2 p.m. OR

– given through many local churches OR

– mailed “in care of” First Baptist Church Louisa, 301 W. Pike Street, Louisa, KY 41230.

Map for drive-thru pattern attached.
